Salsomaggiore Terme is just 30 km far from Parma.
To reach Parma by car: Emilia way, or highway A1.
To reach Parma by train: change at Fidenza station.
Most interesting places and monuments to visit:
- Duomo and Battistero [see previous photo];
- Monastero di San Giovanni Evangelista [ see photo ],
built in X century, big construction with Church, Convento and Farmacia di S. Giovanni. Known for its medicines.
- Parco Ducale [ see photo ], built in XVI century,
projected by Jacopo Barozzi da Vignola for Farnese Family.
- Chiesa della Madonna della Steccata [ see photo ], inside you
can visit Parmigianino's fresco ( Vergini Stolte and Vergini Savie).
- Teatro Regio [ see photo ], built in XIX in neoclassic style.
- Galleria Nazionale [ see photo ], just inside Palazzo
della Pilotta, in which you can find many artworks of Leonardo da Vinci, Correggio, Parmigianino, and Annibale Carracci.
In Parma the modern architecture take place too: Renzo Piano's creations like Auditorium Paganini, Barilla Center and Piazzale della Pace
just in front of Pilotta, are most famous example.
But Parma is best known as the town of the music and the theatre:
